THE LONGEST DAY – 3.45pm PERTH
0.5 POINT WIN BET ADVISED AT A GENERALLY AVAILABLE 12/1
I think they’ve gone too big on these two southern raiders.
I am pretty sure Vinnie has been plotted up after not quite cutting the mustard on handicap debut off 111. Although that in itself was odd, as he looked outpaced over 19f, yet they started him over 16f. He was sent off fav over 23f, but just didn’t jump at all. He ran better with Dickie on board, but 110 was just too high.
We then saw him run quite frequently over trips too sharp, but that has seen his mark fall down to just 91. They’ve landed a few gambles here, World Trip a recent one, and have a very healthy strike rate of 20% here. So now he’s been given a break, and he’s back up in trip, with a more accomplished jock, and first time pieces, I think there are a lot of positive signs.
The only thing I’m worried about is if they get too much rain (Murphy mentioned this in his video today), as I don’t think he wants a 24f slog.
As for The Longest Day, he’s aptly named, as I think if this turns in to a slog, then he could be the one. He’s proven on heavy ground, and his last run really was good, because you just have to ignore the winner that day who was about 40lb well in. I see him as a more solid EW bet in here as who knows what Vinnie will do, but I’d still rather stick to just doing win bets when dutching.
