CHAMPAGNE PLATINUM – 4.00pm GOWRAN PARK
0.5 POINTS EACH WAY BET ADVISED AT 25/1 WITH BET365 WHO ARE PAYING 3 PLACES
Hi guys, I’ve started looking for early value in tomorrow’s race cards and think this 25/1 shot with BET365 for 3 places could be over-priced and worth at least small to medium stakes.
The horse is Champagne Platinum who runs off a much lower hurdles mark here (119) compared to his 130 official chasing rating.
He didn’t run badly in a much better more valuable hurdles race, against some much higher rated horses than this, 4 weeks ago at Leopardstown to finish 15 lengths 6th of 11 and dropped 2lb to a career low mark in this easier affair he could go close with Luke Donnelly taking a useful 4lb off and the selection now fully-fit on his fourth start of the season.
The significant drop back in trip to 2-miles is a bit of an unknown/concern as he has been contested over much further for the past 2 plus years but he did win over it twice in his youth. Plus, the 2-miles at Gowran with it’s 3-furlong uphill finish to the line turns in to quite a stamina test on the forecast Heavy Going. It may still not be enough of a test for the 9 year old gelding but I’m hoping off his low mark he can run well and hopefully go close. I also think any risk regarding the trip has been built in to his generous looking price.
