DESERT SWIRL – 2.00pm KEMPTON

0.5 POINTS EACH WAY BET ADVISED AT 14/1 WITH SKYBET WHO ARE PAYING 4 PLACES

The Favourite, Charlatan (2/1) is all the rage in this 2 o’clock race at Kempton and looks the right Favourite but Desert Swirl looks the each way over-priced value horse in the race.

The 4 year old filly has been dropped 4lb since receiving her initial handicap mark last June and she is entitled to strip fitter for a promising run in a Classified Stakes race at Wolverhampton 20 days ago coming off a 188-day break where she was poorly positioned out wide throughout having to come round the home bend about 10-wide before finishing her race of pretty well.

Wears number 5 coming out of stall 6

First-time booking Christian Howarth, who takes a useful further 3lb off her back, has a 22% strike rate (2-9) when riding for the under-rated Alex French yard.

She is having just her third handicap start and is open to improvement (she will need to improve to win). However, this race looks easier than her last one being a weak Class 6 low grade affair. Her draw in stall 6 is fine and I like the mile trip for her back at Kempton where she ran twice last year.

I’ve backed Desert Swirl each way at 14/1 for 4 places with SKYBET and would advise you do the same with them or BET365 for slightly shorter odds or with whichever firm you use. If you can’t get on for 4 places, hopefully she’ll place in the first 3 for us.

Good luck!
