KHATHAK – 5.00pm NEWCASTLE

0.5 POINTS EACH WAY BET ADVISED AT THE 18/1AVAILABLE WITH THE FOLLOWING FIRMS PAYING 4 PLACES

Hi guys, this looks like a highly competitive Class 4 eleven runner race so I’m not confident of a win but, with that said, I think this mile trip at Newcastle is perfect for Khathak so he looks worth an each way interest at the current 18/1 on offer with both William Hill & 888SPORT paying the first 4 home.

I say the mile here is ideal for the selection because he only went down by a head when finishing 2nd of 12 off this mark in a slightly easier Grade (0-78 as opposed to 0-82 today) two starts back running to a Racing Post Rating (RPR) of 78 and on his only other two attempts over C&D he ran to RPR’s of 78 & 79. He is receiving 9lb weight from current Favourite Dingle (3/1) and if he runs to a similar rating this evening he looks to have a chance at the weights.

Wears number12 coming out of Stall 3

Khathak hasn’t won since his debut back in December 2021 which was 14 starts ago but I don’t think it is for the lack of ability or his attitude. Besides this, the 5 year old gelding has dropped 13lb down the weights in the past 11-months, he finished 2nd twice in his past four starts, he will be fully-fit on his sixth run back from a 94-day break, and jockey Oisin Orr knows the horse well having his fourth start on him

The advice is 0.5 points each way at 18/1 for 4 places.

Good luck!
