I don’t think there is a horse who exists that has been more consistent at Cartmel than this gallant 12 year old. In ten runs at the course, all over the same CD, the worst he has finished is fourth (His first run at the course). He’s won an incredible six times, finishing second two times, and finishing third once – so he’s only been unplaced once in ten runs, which is crazy.
He last run/won here back in August off 126, but has had 4 runs since then at different courses (at monster prices) where he’s been going through the motions. This has now seen his mark fall down to 119, and he’s two from two in the renewals of this race that he’s run in before (2017 & 2019).
I do think he prefers some cut, more so in his older years, just to slow the others down a bit, so hopefully it won’t dry out too much from the deluge the other day. He could easily find a few too good, but he really shouldn’t be the outsider of the field given his outstanding record at the course.
