This is an interesting race where you can bet on the potential of the three less experienced colts at the head of the market from the top yards of Aidan O’Brien, William Haggas, and Charlie Appleby or go for the more experienced Sound Of Cannons at the bigger price of 18/1. He showed some smart form last year and has been keeping much better company than his up and coming rivals having been contested in a Group 1 and a couple of Group 2’s. He ran against the likes of Pyledriver and English King in a Listed race then a Group 2 at Ascot last month and it could help that he has been rested since. He should be close to being fully fit on his third start of the season, may be better suited by the easy underfoot conditions than some, and the application of a first-time hood could spark improvement. Don’t go overboard with your stakes as the two at the head of the betting won by 12 & 10 lengths respectively in easier races last time out so could be very good, but the ground at York has already thrown up a 100/1 winner in the 12.55pm today and this 18/1 shot looks a little over-priced and worth at least a small interest.
