SAMUEL SPADE – 2.42pm KEMPTON
0.5 POINTS EACH WAY BET ADVISED AT 12/1 WITH BET365 WHO ARE PAYING 6 PLACES
Good morning guys, Saturday racing is always tougher than through the week because trainers save their best horses for it with more prize money being on offer. So, races are generally more competitive.
With that said, there can also be each way value to be had with bookmaker firms fighting each other for your custom offering extra places with SKYBET paying the first 7 home in this 2.42 race at Kempton for example.
In this 2.42 race, the 4 horses under 10/1 are all at least slightly on the drift giving us hope something at a bigger price can win this and offer little value at their respective prices in such a competitive looking 19-runner race.
There are also drying conditions at Kempton which doesn’t suit many of the runners who were expecting/hoping for Softer so it has opened up the race.
I fancy plenty but the 4 who stand out to me at each way prices are SAMUEL SPADE (12/1), Mothill (12/1), Up For Parol (20/1 Betfred), and Hermino AA (22/1) with his trainer Gary Moore saying of his three runners he “looks well handicapped whereas the other two are less so”. However, Hermino AA would definitely prefer softer underfoot conditions.
I’d happily back Up For Parol & Hermino AA for small stakes each way but I think SAMUEL SPADE has to be my top choice with Mothill second pick.
SAMUEL SPADE is a 5 year old Ben Pauling gelding who put in a career best when winning at Taunton 30-days ago. He, in the words of his trainer is, “at the right end of the weights” carrying just 10st 10lbs. He is also one of the runners who will be better suited by the drying conditions at the track. He was put up 7lb for that win plus is up in Class but did it well and was running on strongly over 2m3f so this first-time try at 2m5f could suit. He is also only 5 years old so there could easily be plenty of improvement to come, he will be fitter on his third start of the season, and the yard are in form (Last 14 days: 6-25, 24%).
Mothill has, Man Of The Moment Joe Anderson on board after his amazing sit on Transmission at Plumpton after nearly going over the front of the horse then recovering to go on and win the race. He takes 5lb off, the horse won last time and he cancels out the 5lb rise.
There will hopefully be more tips to follow.
Good luck!
