ARMANDIHAN – 2.45pm CATTERICK
0.5 PTS EACH WAY BET ADVISED AT 16/1 AVAILABLE WITH BET365
The 6 year old gelding Armandihan historically usually takes a few runs at the start of each season before he hits top gear and having been contested over a much too far 2m0.5f last time, it was no surprise to see him finish down the field, but it won’t have done his fitness any harm. This is his fourth start of the year so he should be nearing peak condition, he is dropping down in to a Class 5 handicap, and back in trip to a more suitable 1m6f after not staying an extra 2.5 furlongs last time. This 1m6f trip is just about the limit of his stamina, and his stable know that, so my guess is they either ran him over 2m1f to get him fitter for this or they were hoping he would be dropped a few pounds, or both. He has dropped to 5lb below his last winning flat mark, he is 1-1 at the track, this is his second run since having a wind operation, and the Kevin Ryan Yard are in top form (Last 14 days: 8-39, 21%). Also, first-time booking Grace McEntee is very experienced, is having a good season (10-79, 13% SR), and takes a useful 5lb off his back.
The selection admittedly doesn’t have a prolific strike rate (3-32) but having compared his form against all his rivals I can see him at least hitting the places so he looks well over-priced at 16/1. Each way advised at the price in this 9-runner affair. Good luck!
