ROMAN MELODY – 1.00pm KEMPTON

EACH WAY BET ADVISED AT THE 16/1 AVAILABLE WITH THESE 6 BOOKMAKERS…

This is a competitive looking handicap with 3 or 4 at the head of the market having obvious chances but Roman Melody looks over-priced at 16/1 so is worth at least a small each way interest in this 10-runner affair. He showed ability in 5 runs all over 6f last year but in a couple of those races he appeared to be not quite staying the distance losing places late on so today’s drop back to 5f for the first time may well see him in a better light. He has been dropped 3lb in the handicap and showed he handles the track when finishing a 4.5 lengths 4th of 10 on his only start here last October. He was 7/2 second Favourite that day so connections were expecting a good run and the race is working out well with the 2nd & 3rd having run to a good level since and the two immediately behind him in 5th & 6th have both subsequently won. The horse just behind him in 5th, who he beat off level weights, has since won twice and is now rated 84 with the selection running off 73 today. He has a decent draw in stall 5 and William Carson is in the saddle for the first time. As with all the entrants, his fitness has to be taken on trust but if he puts his best foot forward he has the ability and looks weighted to go close. Good luck!
