AKKAPENKO – 4.10pm BANGOR
0.5 POINT WIN BET ADVISED AT A GENERALLY AVAILABLE 14/1
Sadly this has cut a few points, but as it was smashed in to single figures last time before being withdrawn late on, and in what I thought was a better race than this, I still want to chance it.
This 7 year old gelding has bits and pieces of form that would see him go very close if the switch of yard works. His previous trainer (Vaughan) has really struggled the past year (1 from 48, 2%), but his new handler (Burchell) has been doing OK, with Take Em Out running a fair second the other day, which had looked to completely lose the plot when with Vaughan.
Akkapenko went close a a few times off marks between 86-89 last season, but I’m interesting to see what his new trainer can do with the horse off 84, as back in April he was unlucky not to win with a first timer from the Fergal O’Brien yard in Petite Power, which is quite a feat given they are leading the trainer’s championship this season.
I guess 14/1 EW with Skybet (4 places) is another option, but it could easily come no where, and I was toying with another selection in here but this is the only option at the prices.
