KINGSHOLM – 2.35pm YARMOUTH

0.5 PTS EACH WAY BET ADVISED AT THE 5/1 AVAILABLE WITH THE FOLLOWING BOOKMAKERS

Hi guys, the James Fanshawe trained 4 year old gelding Kingsholm (who was once bought for 185,000 GNS) looks worth an each way interest at 5/1 in this 8-runner Class 4 handicap as I think he has the most scope for further improvement.

The selection, who is 1-1 over today’s 5f trip, was progressive towards the end of last year and ran well on his seasonal debut at Lingfield 18 days ago where he was coming back from a near 8-month break. On that occasion, he got in behind 4 horses and had to switch out wide to make his challenge in the final furlong before going down by 1.5 lengths in 4th. The Stewards held an enquiry into the jockey appearing to stop riding shortly before the winning post. The jockey said the gelding had become briefly unbalanced and taken false step and they noted the his explanation but the horse didn’t look fully-extended late on. He is entitled to strip fitter for the run and may have more to offer with Stefano Cherchi, a first-time booking, taking a useful 5lb off his back.

The James Fanshawe yard are 0-11 over the past fortnight but, if you dig a little deeper, 4 of those 11 horses were beaten less than a lengths and 6 of them were placed (5 x 2nds & a 3rd) so his string really isn’t running badly at all. Good luck!

P.S. Just a reminder that while I suggest bookies to bet with because they have the best price available or are offering to pay extra places in a race these are purely for your benefit and I receive absolutely nothing from them. I AM NOT AFFILIATED WITH ANY BOOKMAKERS!
