CLONDAW CASTLE – 2.50pm AINTREE
0.5 PTS EACH WAY BET ADVISED AT THE 13/2 AVAILABLE WITH BET365
This is a typically very competitive 9-runner Grade 1 race where any of the top 6 in the market wouldn’t be a surprise winner so what you’re looking for is a horse with some kind of edge. By opting for the progressive 9 year old Clondaw Castle I am hoping I have found that.
The selection has been kept fresh for this by his in form trainer, Tom George (Last 14 days: 5-24, 21%), since appearing to take his form to a whole new level by winning a highly competitive Grade 3 handicap chase at Kempton 40 days ago when stepped up to 3-miles for the first time while many of his rivals had hard races at the Cheltenham Festival. He could have been called the winner 3-out that day before asserting over the last to win in a fast time with a bit in hand. He showed that day he can stay a fast run three miles, he has course form having finished a good 1.5 lengths 2nd of 12 over 2m4f here on unsuitably Soft ground back in October, and the ground has come in his favour here with the recent drying conditions at the track.
One of the few coming in to this on the up and in top form, Clondaw Castle, has been knocking at the door of Grade 1 level for a while now so I’m hoping he can progress again today to give him his first win at this level and Tom George his second win in the race. I have advised backing him at 13/2 with BET365 who are paying three places. SKYBET are paying the first 4 home but are only offering 11/2. Good luck!

P.S. Just a reminder that while I suggest bookies to bet with because they have the best price available or are offering to pay extra places in a race these are purely for your benefit and I receive absolutely nothing from them. I AM NOT AFFILIATED WITH ANY BOOKMAKERS!
If you like my write-ups and they’ve helped you then please…
Got him ante post earlier this week at 9/1. Going for the win, though. Booyakasha.
Hi Michelle, 9/1 was great. ? Let’s hope he gives us a good run for our money in a tough race full of very good horses. ??????
