MIRACULOUS GETAWAY – 6.20pm CARTMEL

This lightly raced 6 year old gelding is making his handicap debut off a mark of 98. He got his mark through three qualifying runs within a month, so it looks like the plan was always to go the handicap route. I’m sure they would have got a lower mark if he didn’t run as close on his latest effort when an 8l 4th behind three fair yards sticks (solid form between 107 to 115 in handicap company).
The selection travelled as well as anything, but his jumping was novicey, and it’s fair to say that the jockey wasn’t hard on the horse either. The claimer has a healthy 19% SR for the yard, and his 6lb claim will effectively see him running off a mark of just 92.
I like that he’s had a 79 day break to get him straight, and to hopefully sharpen up his jumping. The stable are in great form (3-8 38%), and these types are always interesting in these conditional jock races as they escape any penalty for winning if running within the next 10 days or so, so hopefully that is the plan for this one.
