GETAWAY MAG – 1.37pm HEREFORD

1 PT EACH WAY BET ADVISED AT A GENERALLY AVAILABLE 9/1

I quite like the chances of the 6 year old mare GETAWAY MAG in this with Dan Skelton’s horses generally in very good form (Last 14 days: 12-61, 20%).

She was purchased of £45,000 back in April 2019 after winning a 3 mile point to point then after three runs in maiden/novice events towards the end of 2019 she won on her handicap debut in this Class over 2m3.5f at Doncaster back in February.

She appeared to improve with racing last season and looked on her way back last time on her second start since September when a running on 19 lengths 4th of 14 in a higher Class over a much too short 2m1f at Carlisle 19 days ago. That run won’t have done her fitness any harm (it was probably a bit like sprint training for her) and this former 3-mile pointer will be much better suited by today’s extra 4 furlongs. She has also been dropped a useful 2lb to just 1lb above her last winning mark and is also down in Class. I have little doubt there is plenty more to come from her this campaign and I’m just hoping she is fully tuned in this rather than in another run or two.

As usual, I have looked at the form of all her rivals and can’t say I’m convinced by expensive purchase (£135,000) Mustang Alpha who the Racing Post and several other tipsters are going for. His last time out close-up 2nd of 8 to Fugitives Drift looks like decent form on the face of it but he was in receipt of 24lb from the winner so I’ not sure he has achieved that much. He will be fitter than most having had three runs this season, is unexposed, and will be suited by today’s extra yardage but will hopefully struggle to give the selection 4lb.

The other one the Newspaper tipsters are opting for is Mick Mona who hasn’t achieved as much as the selection and is by no means guaranteed to be suited by today’s extra 5.5 furlongs. Richard Johnson is an eye-catching booking and she is unexposed but will hopefully need another run or two before hitting top gear this season.

I’ve Napped GETAWAY MAG because it’s hard to see her finishing outside the first four home barring mishaps and, like yesterday, SKYBET are definitely the way to go as they are the only bookmaker I’m aware of who are paying 4 places in this 12-runner race. Good luck!
