CAIRNSHILL (NAP) – 2.22pm MARKET RASEN

1 PT EACH WAY BET ADVISED AT 33/1 WITH BET365

For a Nap, I’m far from sure about this one guys as the selection has been out of form this season but he has had excuses on two of his last three starts (didn’t stay 4-miles last time and wasn’t suited by Good to Firm two starts back) while continuing to drop down the weights. However, I am sure about the 33/1 odds currently available for CAIRNSHILL as I can see him going off much shorter.

This 9 year old gelding has dropped 20lb down the weights since this time last year to his lowest mark in 2 years. He is tried in first-time blinkers here, which could spark improvement, and a tongue-tie is also re-introduced for the first time since joining this yard back in March 2019. He didn’t stay 4-miles last time so will be much better suited by the drop back to this 3-miles while the easy underfoot conditions look like they are going to be ideal for him.

He is usually contested in Class 3 to Class 4 handicaps and the last time he ran in a Class 5 he only went down by a length around this trip, off 2lb higher than today, to a very well-handicapped horse who went on to win his next two starts and be rated 22lb higher. The first two home also pulled 13 lengths clear of the third.

He should be fully race-fit on his sixth start since August and he won a Class 2 handicap off 17lb higher in May 2019. That was over hurdles and while he tackles fences today his best form over both sets of obstacles is very similar.

All things considered, he looks well worth a bet at a generous looking 33/1 and I’ve Napped him because he may just turn out to be very well-handicapped. Good luck!
