FAKIR – 12.30pm THURLES
0.5 PT EACH WAY BET ADVISED AT 15/2 AVAILABLE WITH THE FOLLOWING BOOKMAKERS…
I have this between the Gigginstown Stud owned pair of Mormon (9/4) and FAKIR (15/2) so at the prices I’ve opted for the latter who looks the each way angle in this 8-runner race. However, I wouldn’t put anyone off having a saver on Mormon who appears in with a good chance and looks their first string on jockey bookings with Rachel Blackmore taking the reins.
This Joseph Patrick O’Brien trained 5 year old gelding finished last season in the style of a good horse very much on the up with an easy 11 length victory over hurdles over 2m4f on Heavy ground at Gowran Park back in February achieving a comparatively very good Racing Post Rating (RPR) of 144 in the process. He then made his chase debut at the same C&D under the same going 30 days ago where he looked in need of the experience and wasn’t given a hard time before finishing 43 lengths 5th of 10. He should strip fitter for that, will have learned plenty, and could go well for in form first-time booking Donagh Meyler (Last 14 days: 3-15, 20%) stepped up an extra 5 furlongs today on his first attempt beyond 3-miles. He went through the line strongly over 2m4f on Heavy so I think he will stay this far on Soft and it may even unlock further improvement. Good luck!
