MONJENI – 2.05pm SOUTHWELL

1 PT WIN BET ADVISED AT 14/1 AVAILABLE WITH SKYBET & BET VICTOR

If there is value to be had in this race it is surely MONJENI at a biggish looking 14/1.

This 7 year old gelding has been running well in defeat recently while dropping 7lb down the weights since August to his last wining mark. He also beat the re-opposing Shine Baby Shine (7/2) fair and square by 2.5 lengths around 2 miles at Newcastle three starts back and is 4lb better off at the weights. The Philip Kirby trained 6 year old is a course winner who goes well here but this would still suggest their prices are wrong and should be much closer together particularly with Shine Baby Shine having to prove he stays this far.

Alistair Rawlinson is a first-time booking and a good man to have in the saddle on Monjeni’s first try on Fibresand as he rides the track well (38 – 268, 14% SR). Also, the Ian Williams string has been generally running better than his 4% strike rate would suggest (Last 14 days: 1-28, 4%) as there were 6 second place finishers among his most recent 28 runners.

The selection has stayed a running on 2m2f on turf before so should be fine stepping up to today’s 2m2.5f, he drops from a Class 3 to a Class 5, and he could go close if taking to the surface.

I’ve advised a win bet rather than each way as there are only 7-runners taking part. Good luck!
