ENCOUNTER A GIANT – 2.45pm HAYDOCK

0.5 PTS EACH WAY BET ADVISED AT AN INDUSTRY BEST PRICE 14/1 WITH BET365

Hi guys, Encounter A Giant has been making his way back from an extended 787-day break with his trainer quoted as saying in the Racing Post yesterday evening, “He’s needed his last two runs after a break” where he pulled-up 3 out over 3-miles at Exeter last month before being bang there turning for home over 3m2f at Newbury 18 days ago where he tired late on trailing in last of the 6th who completed.

This very lightly-raced 10 year old was a formerly quite useful 3-time PTP winner who also won a Beginners’ Chase by 8 lengths over 3m1f on Heavy ground at Hereford under Rules in December 2019 running to a Racing Post Rating of 138 and was progressing nicely before his long time off the track. If he could get back to anywhere near his best he could win this.

The selection has also been dropped 8lb for those two runs since his return so he has effectively been getting fitter while dropping down the weights. Alistair Ralph does well with the horses he sends to Haydock (Last 5 years: 4-12, 33% SR), the horse has shaped previously like he will stay this longer 3m4.5f trip at the first attempt, and jockey Jonathan Burke (who is 6-25 achieving a 24% SR for the yard in the last five seasons) is an eye-catching first-time booking.

BET365 have the best industry price currently on offer at 14/1 (12/1 generally available) while some of the smaller firms (Mansion Bet, 10Bet, Sport Nation, & VBet) are all paying 3 places on the race if you’re lucky enough to have an account with one of them. So, my advice is to back the horse at 12/1-14/1 to finish in the first three home if you can. Best of luck!

P.S. Just a reminder that while I suggest bookies to bet with because they have the best price available or are offering to pay extra places on a race these are purely for your benefit and I receive absolutely nothing from them. I’M NOT AFFILIATED WITH ANY BOOKMAKERS!
