CAPTAIN TOM CAT – 1.30pm CHELTENHAM
0.5 POINTS EACH WAY ADVISED AT 6/1 WITH SKYBET PAYING 5 PLACES
Hi guys, one I fancy today is Captain Tom Cat in the 1.30 at Cheltenham. Skybet look the way to go offering both 6/1 and 5 places on the race. Most other firms are only paying the first 4 home.
You can see here ►https://shrewdpunters.com/tips/jibber-jabber-tip-1-10-04-2023/◄ I had him tipped when he last ran at Plumpton 9 days ago. If you get a chance to watch the race back you will see him finishing a good 2nd of 6 coming back at the winner late on on unsuitably Soft ground. Running off the same mark today, with the officially Good ground much more to his liking, fitter on his third start back from a 106-day break, with plenty of course form, in receipt of weight from all his main rivals at the head of the market, I can see him running a big race.
The Favourite, Heltenham, is a highly progressive 6 year old who has won his last three but has been described by his trainer as wanting, “really slow ground, it’s very important to him” will hopefully prove vulnerable today having also gone 27lb up the weights since November. I have also had a close look at Herbiers (10/1) & Unanswered Prayers (11/1), both of who there has been money for, and I’m hopeful they will struggle to give the selection 11lb & 4lb respectively.
Captain Tom Cat runs of a mark of just 128 here and if he can improve again, which he could do with today’s better ground a major plus, and get back to the best of his 2021 form where he ran to a Racing Post Rating of 150 then he will surely take all the beating. It is a competitive 12-runner handicap but, all things considered, I thought the selection looked a good each way bet at 6/1 with him, barring mishaps, surely unlikely to finish outside the first 5 in this line-up.
There may be more tips to follow today as I’m still searching for value betting opportunities.
Good luck if you decide to have a bet!
