HATS OFF TO LARRY (NAP) – 1.40pm MARKET RASEN

1 PT EACH WAY BET ADVISED AT THE 6/1 AVAILABLE WITH BET365

I think my Nap, Hats Off To Larry, may have been let in very lightly off an official rating of 110 making his handicap debut over hurdles. He has been a pretty useful, consistent, performer on the flat having 5 wins to his name and placing 13-times (2nd to 4th) from 22 runs. He also has somewhat of a jumps pedigree with his dam being an unraced half-sister to Highland River who won over both fences and hurdles. He has shown ability in his three hurdles starts to date running to a best RPR of 107 over the smaller obstacles way back in November 2018. At 6 years of age now he is a much more able, more mature, physically stronger, horse who is officially rated 12lb better on the flat than he was just prior to that 2018 hurdles start.

Wind surgery back in January this year may well have helped as he’s had two good runs on the flat recently posting a career best RPR of 91 on his seasonal debut back in June. This both compares well and augurs well ability-wise to today’s lenient looking opening hurdles mark of 110. He should be nearing peak fitness with those runs under his belt, the in form Jonathan Burke (Last 14 days: 2-6, 33%) is a very good booking, the recent rain in the area will benefit him more than the likes of fancied rival Get Back Get Back (7/2), and off bottom weight in receipt of between 15lb & 22lb from his four main rivals at the head of the market he should go close barring mishaps.

Each way advised at 6/1 with BET365 who are only paying 3 places (I’m hoping he’ll be at least good enough for the first three) though some of you may want to take the extra place insurance with one of the several bookmakers who are paying the first four home in this race but are only offering odds of 11/2. Good luck!
