RECON MISSION – 3.10pm YORK

0.5 PTS EACH WAY BET ADVISED AT 14/1 WITH WILLIAM HILL WHO ARE PAYING 7 PLACES

This is a typical ultra-competitive big-race on ITV Saturday afternoon 22-runner handicap and not normally the type of race I would tip in or advise that you guys have a bet in but, with that said, we love the thrill and excitement of this type of race and it’s great when we hit the winner! Besides that, I’ve found one which seems to have plenty going for him.

The 4 year old Tony Carroll trained colt, Recon Mission, ticks a lot of boxes today being 1-1 over C&D, he’s well-drawn for a front-runner in stall 1, he has dropped 10lb down the weights since June to 5lb below his last winning mark, he gets the Soft ground he needs for the first time over this trip (6f) this year, and great first-time booking Harry Russell takes a very useful further 5lb off his back in what are going to be stamina sapping conditions. If he breaks well he could take some catching.

The 14/1 on offer with William Hill looks the way to go being the only bookmaker I’m aware off who are paying 7-places as we have learned it never hurts to have extra place insurance in these big field handicaps. SKYBET are paying 6-places at 14/1 and Boylesports who are paying 5-places are offering higher odds at 16/1. Good luck!
