BIG CITY – 1.40pm AYR

0.5 PTS EACH WAY BET ADVISED AT 16/1 AVAILABLE WITH BET VICTOR AND BET365

The Roger Fell trained 3 year old gelding Big City is of interest here having dropped 19lb down the weights in just over a year to a career low mark of 58.

He has gone close 3-times since June off 1lb higher including here on Heavy Going (Soft today) four starts back when only going down by a length to finish a running on 2nd of 9 over 7f. He was sent off at 9/2 joint second Favourite that day, was arguably travelling best of all from the 2f pole, was well-drawn in this stall (stall 1), and may well have won only for becoming unbalanced and losing valuable forward momentum at a vital stage well inside the final furlong. The first three home pulled clear of the 4th placed horse and the 3rd, Equidae, who the selection beat by a neck has won twice since and is now officially rated 9lb higher.

The Racing Post reports that he “has gone off the boil” but I hope they’re wrong for a change as my take on it instead is that he has been running on the All-Weather in his last two races where he simply sin’t as good with his best RPR being 19lb lower than on today’s turf.

He looks over-priced at 16/1 returned here with Ben Curtis in the saddle under what I suspect are his ideal conditions (1 mile with easy underfoot conditions) and, provided he puts his best foot forward, he could go close at decent odds. Good luck!
