MINHAAJ (NAP) – 1.45pm SANDOWN

1 PT EACH WAY BET ADVISED AT 18/1 WITH BETFRED WHO ARE THE ONLY BOOKMAKER PAYING 3 PLACES IN THIS 7-RUNNER RACE.

The 3 year old filly Minhaaj was picked up for 35,000gns last month after finishing 5th of 10 on her handicap debut and moved from the William Haggas yard to trainer Michael Attwater. She is running off a lenient looking mark of 80 today back on a straight track which will really suit. Her best runs have all come on a straight course so she won’t have been suited by Chelmsford last month as she had to round a bend. It takes her a while to get up to full speed so a long straight track is ideal. I watched the race replay and thought it wasn’t a bad run coming back from a 208 day break considering she was taking on progressive, race-fit rivals, some of which already had the benefit of a couple of runs.

Her outstanding piece of form is her 8th of 16 over 6f in a Listed race at Newmarket last November. The form of the race has worked out really well with most of the 15 other runners that finished both in front off and behind her now rated much higher than her current mark of 80. For example, Precious Moments and Caspian Queen who finished 12th and 14 and were 4.5 and 9.75 lengths behind her are now officially rated 92 and 90 respectively. She has generously been dropped 2lb for her last run, she drops down from a Class 3 to a Class 4, she should strip fitter for the run, and she drops back to the 5f trip her only win to date, in her short 5-race career, came over. The Good to Firm Going is an unknown but her prolific Sire, Invincible Spirit, has produced more winners (258) on that Going than any other so it should suit. I have her well ahead of her mark and, with plenty more to come from this lightly-raced filly, I think she can go close in this field.

The best offer is easily with BETFRED who are the only bookmaker (I know off) who are paying 3 places in this 7-runner race. She is my Nap because I can’t see her finishing outside the first three so 1 point each way is advised with BETFRED but I can also see her go close to winning. As I write this BET365 are still offering 20/1 but only paying 2 places and she is generally available at 18/1 with other bookies who are also only paying 2 places. Good luck!
