You won’t find too many tipsters going for FLYING GARRY in this with nearly all of them opting for the odds-on Favourite Ben Brody (5/6) and money coming for No Quarter Asked (9/2) but I think this 6 year old gelding, who cost E25,000 as a 3 year old, looks the one to be on at the current prices/weights.
He has dropped 17lb down the weights since receiving his initial handicap mark around this time last year and while he has only had one run over fences I watched the race replay and he jumped well throughout and has a decent chase pedigree. He will also be approaching full fitness on his third start of the season, he is in receipt of 14lb & 15lb respectively from the two at the head of the market, and excellent first-time booking Ben Jones takes a useful further 3lb off his back. His best run to date came on his third start last year, over today’s C&D over hurdles on this Heavy ground, where he ran to an RPR of 87 and he runs off a mark of 83 today. So conditions look ideal and with his best years ahead of him I’m hopeful he won’t be far away in this.
