Hi, I’m Karl and I live in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I have been a huge fan of Horse Racing since my mid-teens when my grandfather and I attended Down Royal every year without fail. My favourite racing memories include being at the track to see legend Kauto Star win the Champion Chase at Down Royal on two separate occasions. My late grandfather had a flair for picking winners and must have passed some of it on to me because I beat 6000 others, including some of the very best tipsters in the country, to win the hotly contested Racing Post Search for A Tipster competition taking the highly desirable title and £25,000 prize money for 1st place back in 2007. My approach of searching for and tipping over-priced, “value”, double-figure odds horses worked for me then and I use the same process to this day.
This contest win skyrocketed my tipping career and since then I have contributed as a freelance horse racing writer with regular pieces featured in The Times (Ireland edition), The Irish Field, The Irish Post, gg.co.uk, HorseRacing.net, RacingAhead.net, PastTheWire.com, Punterslounge.com, ExpressDigest.com, etc, and I currently tip daily for the Irish Post on the Racing Post Naps Table.
