THE LONGEST DAY – 4.35pm PERTH
0.5 POINTS EACH WAY BET ADVISED AT THE 11/1 AVAILABLE WITH THESE FIRMS
Hi guys, I’ve been considering one which looks a bit risky but I think is worth a bet at the price and at today’s weights. The horse is The Longest Day in the 4.35pm at Perth.
The 7 year old gelding was tailed off in a pipe-opener over an unsuitable 2-mile trip at Hereford 20 days ago coming off an extended 450-day break but that may have put him right for this. My concern is he may need another run or even two before being fully-fit. However, he has steadily dropped 15lb down the weights since June 2021 and has a couple of pieces of form which give him a chance at the weights including an 11.5 lengths 5th of 11 over C&D off an 8lb higher mark in July 2021. He also finished 19 lengths 3rd of 11 over this trip off 5lb higher than today to two very nice sorts now rated 16lb & 18lb higher respectively in January 2022.
This selection is by no means nailed on but having compared him to every other horse in the race at the weights he looks worth an interest in this 9-runner race at that 11/1 price and could go close if putting his best foot forward.
Good luck!
