ATOMIC LADY – 2.25pm YORK
0.5 POINTS EACH WAY BET ADVISED AT THE 16/1 AVAILABLE WITH THE FOLLOWING FIRMS ALL PAYING 5 PLACES
Hi guys, I think the Tim Easterby trained 2 year old filly Atomic Lady looks worth another chance after she under-performed or had excuses last time. Many firms are offering 16/1 on the race and paying 5 places so she looks a fair each way bet at the price. Skybet are the only bookmaker I am aware of who are paying 6 places on the race but they are only offering 14/1.
I’ve watched her last race back a few times and I think she had excuses. She was sent off at 4/1 joint Favourite for a 5f race at Musselburgh but things didn’t go to plan with her finishing 6.5 lengths 6th of 11. However, she had a poor draw out wide in stall 2, jinked right leaving the stalls, and basically was racing on an unfavoured part of the track as the first 4 home were all positioned down the stands rail. Prior to that, she had been progressive winning twice with Racing Post Ratings of 69, 73, 77, & 83 on her first four starts this year. She also looked really good over this course and distance when beating dual subsequent winner Silken Petals (now rated 11lb higher) by 1.75 lengths two starts back. She seemed particularly well-suited by the track on that occasion and the first two pulled about 5 lengths clear of the 3rd.
She receives 5lb from her male counterparts here and with David Allan taking over in the saddle she could easily resume her progress. She certainly won’t lack for fitness on her sixth start since May.
I would advise backing 0.5 points on her each way at 16/1 with any of the firms paying 5 places. In a 21-runner race extra place “insurance” is a shrewd move so you may want to consider the 6 places with Skybet at 14/1. Good luck!
