This 10 year old was really progressive when with Skelton two seasons back, working his way up to a mark of 140 over hurdles. He then went novice chasing with another good trainer in Nicky Richards, and made a nice debut in a solid novice chase full of 130+ horses to finish fourth, but the mark was still too high off 128 to cut the mustard in handicap company.
He then moved on to his current trainer, Jeffreys, who really does know how to land a touch, and is great at taking horses from other yards, and what I can only describe as bringing them along slowly to then bringing them to the boil.
Knowing when this is, isn’t always easy, but generally, you want to see a break, and you want to see some headgear (Ayr Of Elegance is a great recent example, 76 day break, first time blinkers, a step up in trip). This horse mark has dropped to 109, he’s up in trip from 16f to 22.5f, and it’s the first time he’s had any headgear (tp).
The price is perhaps a little disappointing given how far he’s been beat, but I’ll give it a go anyway.
