A real solid horse on the flat in the mid 80s, yet is making his handicap debut off just 93 over hurdles here after some down the field runs in his qualifying runs. The rule of thumb is you can be around 45lb better over hurdles than your flat mark, but it really isn’t as simple as that, as most struggle to get anywhere near that.
But as this 7 year old gelding is only 11lb higher than his flat mark, you like to think he could be well in. Jacob is booked to ride, and it’s his sole ride on the card, and he was on board for 3 of the 4 winners from the yard last season.
He could of course come no where again, but he was favourite in a recent Taunton entry but for being withdrawn. He’s the unexposed horse in here, and now returned to quicker ground again I’m sure he’ll prove better than this mark.
