MAJOR JUMBO – 4.00pm ASCOT
0.5 PTS EACH WAY BET ADVISED AT THE 16/1 AVAILABLE WITH THE FOLLOWING BOOKMAKERS…
Hi guys, I think the 7 year old gelding Major Jumbo looks worth chancing in this at the current 16/1 available. Skybet are the only Bookmaker I am aware of who is paying 4 places on the race.
He has been highly tried in Class 2 to Group 1 races over the past few years with this the weakest race he has ran in since September 2017. He had a poor end to 2020 with his form dipping markedly in his last three races so is running off a 12lb lower mark (7lb below his last winning mark) than he was at this time last year when he was running competitively at Group 3 and Listed level. He also showed a return to form last time when 3 lengths 3rd of 14 over this trip at Newcastle 13 days ago possibly helped by re-applied blinkers (retained).
He has C&D form having finished 0.75 lengths 3rd of 28 in a Class 2 race here in June 2018 and he runs in a Class 3 today. I also like the first-time booking of the up-and-coming Oisin McSweeney who is well-worth his 7lb claim. He will be approaching peak fitness on his fourth start of the season and he is ideally suited by 6f on today’s Good to Soft.
He ticks quite a few boxes so provided he is on his way back and continues to progress he is weighted to go close. Each way advised at the price in a 11-runner race. Best of luck!
