Hi guys, I don’t quite know what happened the 5 year old gelding Mutawaffer who won a Novice event over this trip as a 2 year old, was given an initial handicap mark of 87, was tried at Listed and Class 2 level, but then went backwards dropping 25lb down the weights for 9-runs since, and has changed yards twice.
He hasn’t ran since last September (265-days) but I watched his last race back and thought it was promising. That was over 5f at Beverley where he ducked left from a poor draw in stall 9 before being dropped in and making his way over to the rail last of the 17 runners. He then travelled well before being denied a clear run and eased by his jockey in the final furlong and allowed to coast home. He seemed to finish the race full of running and may just be well-handicapped dropped another 2lb here and possibly freshened up by the change of yards.
He looks a fair each way bet at the price in this weak 11-runner Class 6 handicap. Good luck!
