RISK AND ROLL – 4.05pm AINTREE

SMALL STAKES EACH WAY BET ADVISED AT THE 40/1 AVAILABLE WITH BET365 WHO ARE PAYING 5 PLACES OR 33/1 WITH SKYBET WHO ARE PAYING THE FIRST 6 HOME

Hi guys, I’m glad I’m not tipping in every race today as they all look so competitive. My advice is to keep it fun, keep your stakes small, enjoy the racing at Aintree for the awesome spectacle it is, and keep your powder dry for better betting opportunities later in the week. I’m particularly looking forward to watching this race as it is run over the Grand National fences.

For those of you interested in Placepots, I am planning to do a permed one (where I suggest 1 to 3 horses likely to place in the first 6 races) at Aintree tomorrow and Saturday for my supporters on Patreon. You can see what I’m doing on there by clicking on this link.

I have spent the past two hours looking for something to tip you at a really big price and Risk And Roll at 40/1 is the best I can come up with. This 21-runner Foxhunters’ Open Hunters’ Chase is about as competitive as they come with the four at the head of the betting market (Billaway 3/1, Sametegal 11/2, Cat Tiger 6/1, & Latenightpass 7/1) all having serious winning chances. So, please don’t expect too much from Risk And Roll who has a bit to find with them on ratings but there are also good, sound, logical reasons to think he could go well and, with luck in running which you always need in these big fields, perhaps hit the places (3rd to 7th).

The selection won a couple of Novices’ Hunters’ Chases in February and March of last year under today’s jockey, Milo Herbert, and didn’t do much wrong (apart from the odd jumping error) when a half length 2nd of 8 over 2m4f at Huntington 32 days ago where he was giving 2lb to a well-handicapped winner who went in again by 5 lengths off 4lb higher next time out. The first two pulled clear, Risk And Roll finished the race full of running just getting out-paced late on, and the 3rd and 6th have gave the form a very solid look by both winning next time out too. He should be approaching peak fitness on his third start back from a 347 day break, he appears versatile ground wise having won on Going from Good to Heavy, he stays this 2m5f trip well, and now 7 years old he may have more to offer in this sphere this season so is open to improvement. My main concern is whether his jumping will hold up as this is his first attempt at the National fences and he has been prone to the odd novicey error. I think, with a clear round, he could go well so all things considered looks worth a small stakes each way bet. Good luck!

P.S. Just a reminder that while I suggest bookies to bet with because they have the best price available or are offering to pay extra places in a race these are purely for your benefit and I receive absolutely nothing from them. I AM NOT AFFILIATED WITH ANY BOOKMAKERS!
