STROXX – 6.05pm SOUTHWELL
0.5 PTS EACH WAY BET ADVISED AT 22/1 WITH SKYBET WHO ARE PAYING 4 PLACES
Tim Easterby’s 3 year old gelding STROXX is a risky proposition as he has a very poor run to overcome last time and this is his first attempt at both 5 furlongs and on a Fibresand surface. However, with that said, I have watched replays of all six of his races and think he could be suited by the drop back in trip having shown plenty of speed and ability on several occasions last year where he ran to Racing Post Ratings in the 70’s three times.
He could also have had an excuse last time as the Soft/Heavy ground may not have suited when he was sent off at 11/4 second Favourite in a 14-runner Novice Stakes race over 6 furlongs at Redcar 24 days ago. Better was obviously expected from him than his 9th place finish so he may well be over-priced today at 22/1.
He should be approaching full fitness on his third start back from a 348 day break, he has been dropped 5lb for those two recent runs so could be well-handicapped running off a mark of 70, he is well-drawn in stall 2, and near the bottom of the weights he could, if taking to Fibresand at the first attempt, outrun his current 22/1 odds. All things considered, he looks worth an each way interest at the price and SKYBET are definitely the way to go as they are the only bookmaker I’m aware of who are paying 4 places in this 12-runner race. Good luck!
