The consistent 5 year old gelding Arbalet looks over-priced in this at 14/1 having gone off Favourite in 3 of his last 4 runs at 13/8, 5/2, and 9/2. He looks a good each way bet with SKYBET, William Hill, and Paddy Power all paying the first 6 places and most other bookmakers paying the first 5 home.
His official rating has steadily dropped from 107 to 91 since March 2019 and he looks on a good mark having finished 2nd in this race off 13lb higher 2 years ago. His draw in stall 8 is ok but I’d have preferred a little higher with stalls 11 and upwards doing best in recent years. However, I do really like the first-time booking of Andrea Atzeni, his light weight of 8st 7lb, his record over C&D off much higher marks, and the fact he has had 4 runs already this year so should be fully race-fit. The Good to Firm going looks ideal, he needs cover in his races and should get that in this field of 20 runners before coming with a late run, and all things considered he looks a good each way bet at the price with the David O’Meara yard in form having had 10 winners in the past fortnight.
