VEGAS BOY – 5.10pm KEMPTON
0.5 PTS EACH WAY BET ADVISED AT A GENERALLY AVAILABLE 9/2 WITH ALL THE FOLLOWING BOOKMAKERS…
The 5 year old gelding Vegas Boy has hinted at a revival, since moving from the Jamie Osborne yard to Gay Kellaway’s stable back in May, having run two good races in defeat in June. He performed well to finish 2.75 lengths 4th of 12 in a higher Class over this trip on his seasonal debut at Chelmsford on June 8th. He then finished 4.25 lengths 3rd of 6 in a competitive Class 4 (0-85) race at Newmarket 17 days ago. Both races were ran in comparatively fast times and he has been dropped 4lb for the two runs leaving him 6lb below his last winning mark. That win came on this surface (Polytrack) at Lingfield way back in August 2018 but he has several pieces of form in higher Classes off much higher marks than today which leave him looking well-handicapped. He has dropped 12lb down the weights since June last year and normally contested at Class 3 and Class 4 level he drops down in to a Class 5 (0-75) here for the first time since that last win off 6lb higher. He is well-drawn in stall 4, should be approaching peak fitness on his third start of the season, and Tom Marquand is an excellent booking. Gay Kellaway has made a decent start to the flat season (14-93, 15% SR) and regarding Vegas Boy has been quoted as saying, “We’ve several good chances today, but if pushed I’d say this is my best chance.” Each way advised at the price in this weak looking 10-runner Class 5 handicap. Good luck!
