GHERKIN – 2.30pm DONCASTER

EACH WAY BET ADVISED AT 6/1 AVAILABLE WITH ALL THE FOLLOWING BOOKMAKERS…

The 3 year old gelding Gherkin is from a talented family his trainer knows well and he may now be ready to show more than he has shown so far hopefully fully fit on his third run of the season. A couple of things catch the eye with one being the first-time booking of the in form Ben Curtis (Last 14 days: 15-69, 22%). The other is the distance his trainer has sent him to participate in this race with it being almost 250 miles and an 8-hour round trip from his base in Devon to the track.

The selection didn’t perform at all badly last time out over this trip at Windsor 2 weeks ago where he was a running on 5th of 12 from a poor draw in stall 1. This is a slightly easier grade (0-55 as opposed to 0-60), he has been dropped 2lb, and he is better drawn here. His fitness edge with hopefully further improvement to come can see him go close today. Good luck!
