TREFOIL – 3.00pm NEWMARKET

EACH WAY ADVISED AT 13/2 AVAILABLE WITH PADDY POWER & THE FOLLOWING BOOKMAKERS…

I really like the each way chances of the Ralph Beckett trained 3 year old Trefoil in this. This well-bred Teofilio filly won here on debut on today’s (Rowley) course over a mile on Soft last October in a race where the “right” horses finished in the first 4 and it is working out well. The 2nd home hasn’t ran since (but is in my tracker – Secret Victory), the 3rd finished a neck 2nd next time out, the 4th place horse was an excellent Kingman filly and she won a fortnight later comfortably beating a field of 13. However, the key piece of subsequent form that really interests me is that of English King (finished 4.75 lengths back in 7th) who romped home for us on Thursday past and is now joint Favourite for this year’s Derby along with the superb Kameko who won the 2000 Guineas yesterday. That is top form which looks to give Trefoil every chance here. Trefoil is bred to be well-suited by her first try at today’s 1m2f trip and her debut win came on Soft so any further rain (which is forecast throughout the day) will benefit her. Having course form at Newmarket is usually a major plus and she impressed me on debut with the way she ran on strongly through the line on the stamina sapping uphill finish here. I think she looks a great each way bet at 13/2 in this 9-runner affair. Good luck!
