SHOOT TO WIN – 1.00pm NEWCASTLE (AW)
EACH WAY BET ADVISED AT 17/2 WITH BETFAIR SPORTSBOOK & PADDY POWER BOTH PAYING 4 PLACES
The Tim Easterby trained 3 year old gelding Shoot To Win looks well worth an each way interest at 17/2 with Betfair Sportsbook & Paddy Power the only bookies I’m aware of who are paying an extra place on this race. BET365 are currently offering a half a point more at 9/1 but as they’re only paying the first three home you’re much better taking the shorter price with the insurance of the extra place.
Shoot To Win showed he handles the track when finishing 2nd of 11 over 7f here on his debut back in February. Bred to be suited by further he subsequently improved on that effort 15 days later when stepped up to today’s mile for the first time leading pretty much from start to finish and beating 11 other rivals while impressing the way he ran on strongly through the line.
He last ran 91 days ago and, while that’s longer than ideal (I prefer horses for fitness reasons to not have been off the track for more than 50 to 60 days), he may have a fitness edge on his rivals most of who are coming back from 6 to 8 month breaks. He has a plum draw in stall 12, is likely to give it a good go from the front, I like the first time booking of David Allan, and his yard have already been amongst the winners since racing resumed on Monday (Last 3 days: 2-14, 14%). I can see his price shortening overnight which is why I am publishing the tip now. Good luck and don’t forget to take that extra place if you can.
