With both the trainer and jockey going well this season we feel it’s worth taking a chance that this 4 year old gelding from the J C Rouget yard is fit coming back from a 218 day break. Only had 8 career starts with 2 wins but both of those wins came on All-Weather tracks, however his form on today’s turf in defeat reads better than those wins. His only poor run was on heavy ground so he will be suited by the drying conditions at the track and he looks a good each way bet having being placed in much better races than this as highlighted in his last turf run when a 2L 3rd of 8 at Deauville in the 25K Villa Les Ajoncs Handicap over 7 1/2F before finishing his season off with a win on the AW. Of the others Roncey and The Right Man make most appeal.

KADNIKOV – 4.17pm VICHY

Really tough looking handicap with, at the time of writing, the going described as Very Soft. Porsenna wasn’t beaten far 3 days ago and could have a fitness advantage which may prove telling with so many coming back from a break but has no form in today’s conditions. A few in the field have form with each other including Elypson, Art Of Fusion and Mout and if Elypson had been drawn better would have been my selection as will relish the ground and has a 9lb claimer on board but will find life difficult from stall no 1. This brings us to our selection who is another one that will relish cut in the ground. This Nicolas Bellanger trained 6 year old gelding seems as genuine as they come and came back from a 95 day break to finish 3rd of 17 to Dandy Place on the All-Weather back in March. He is coming back from another break of 69 days for this but at least we know he can run well fresh. Has a placed effort in a similar race to this back in October, good draw here in Stall 12, and a 7lb claiming jockey makes us feel he is worth a small each way punt (particularly with the extra place on offer) in a very competitive looking race.
