SKYWARD – 13.58pm LYON PARILLY (FRA)

WIN BET ADVISED AT THE 6/4 AVAILABLE WITH ALL THE FOLLOWING BOOKMAKERS…

I’ve gone for a tracker horse and Favourite for my first tip back from a break in the form of the well-bred, unbeaten, Skyward (cost 170,000gns as a yearling) who I’m hoping can continue his upward curve and give us a straight-forward 6/4 winner.

This 4 year old son of Camelot was highly progressive in his three wins last year with the best of them coming in his third and final start of the season when tried at today’s Listed level for the first time. He was also stepping up in trip to this 1m4f distance for the first time but took both rise in Class and distance in his stride running out a very comfortable 3 lengths winner. You can see him coming up on the outside in the video below where he showed an impressive turn of foot about 1 furlong out that day to put the race to bed looking better the further they went. This was no surprise as Skyward was bought by Australian owner John Messara specifically with a view to winning this year’s Melbourne Cup which is run over 2 miles in November. He remains a best priced 66/1 for that with 888SPORT & UNIBET.

He is coming back from an 8 month break so his fitness has to be taken on trust but Fabrice Chappet’s horses have been running well so there is cause for optimism and you’d like to think, with surely much more to come from him this year, he’d be winning this if he has any chance of going on to win Australia’s most famous annual Thoroughbred horse race and picking up the $4 Million plus 1st prize on offer!
